April 23rd Monthly Meeting

  • Our meeting began with a slideshow of member photos, consisting of the "BMPC" photos that were mailed to Art ahead of the meeting.  If you would like to participate, email your 3 photos to Art before Tuesday, April 21 at amliefke@gmail.com

  • Next George Joseph gave a presentation on Chiaroscuro Photography: "Creating Drama with Light and Shadow"
George's training session explored the powerful photographic technique known as Chiaroscuro.

  • Chiaroscuro is the art of using dramatic light and deep shadow to create striking, dimensional images.  Inspired by classical masters such as Caravaggio and Rembrandt, this technique allows photographers to transform ordinary subjects into compelling works of art.
George's presentation guided members through basic concepts as well as advanced techniques, including:
  • lighting setups
  • camera settings
  • composition strategies, and
  • editing approaches that enhance contrast and mood.
George also included real-world examples showing how a single light source can create stunning visual impact.  Whether you're photographing portraits, still life, or artistic subjects, these techniques can immediately add impact to your work.  See a pdf of the presentation here->   Chiaroscuro by George Joseph or in the slideshow below.

    Content
The meeting begins with short “business” items, such as group photo shoots or special projects.

Presentations are the focus, usually made by club members.  For example, Kristin did a presentation on wildlife photography;  Alan gave photo tips based on a recent rip; Dick reviewed his photo-journey to Iceland.

    Guests are always welcome.
