About Us

The Kings Park Photography Club is located on the North Shore of Long Island, New York, nestled among many parks, beaches, and wildlife with stunning landscapes that provide beautiful photo opportunities.

The club is a friendly group of photo enthusiasts of ALL levels wishing to improve their skills in a social and educational learning environment.  We meet once a month most months at the Kings Park Library usually from 7:00 to 8:45 for a very informal gathering, usually a short business meeting followed by a presentation or program.

Meetings include presentations, slide shows, guest speakers, and educational guidance, but most of all a place to share our love of capturing an image with others.  Beginners and experienced photographers are encouraged to join and add their knowledge to our group so we can improve our skills and experience hands-on guidance.  Whether you are interested in shooting better, composing better photos, editing or learning a new workflow, you can find a peer willing to assist.  Guests are welcome too!

Field trips and programs throughout the year come from our members' input and tailored to their interests.  We have visited a variety of venues and have captured many beautiful and artistic shots.  From the North Shore of Long Island to New York City our events have included visits to Little Island and Bushwick in NYC, the Aquarium in Riverhead, the Wang Center at SBU, Hicks Nursery, Nissequogue River State Park, Sunken Meadow, and even a Shinnecock Pow-wow on Eastern Long Island.

Club members can participate in monthly theme contests, contributing their personal innovative work.  We encourage all members to get out and use their equipment or cell phones and then we exhibit the results, mostly online but sometimes at the library or NRSP.   The majority of the members use digital equipment and have editing software experience.  A monthly zoom meeting attracts participants to discuss and critique photos they have submitted.
