About Us

The Kings Park Photography Club is a friendly group of photo enthusiasts of all levels wishing to improve our skills in a social and learning environment.

We are located on the North Shore of Long Island, New York, nestled among many parks, beaches, and wildlife, with stunning landscapes and photo opportunities.

We meet once a month at the Kings Park Library located in Kings Park, NY, but one need not live in Kings Park to belong or participate.

Our Mission Statement:
to maintain an informal club, with our focus on learning, having fun with like-minded people, and giving back to the community.

Programs & Activities:
  • In Field trips throughout the year we do group photo shoots at a variety of locations from Long Island to New York City.

  • A monthly Zoom meeting invites participants to discuss and critique their work with peers.

  • Club members can participate in monthly Theme Contests, submitting photos and receiving votes from peers who choose monthly winners.
Whether you are interested in shooting better, composing better photos, editing, or learning a new workflow, you can find friends willing to assist you in improving and enjoying your photography.  Join us!.

Iconic Mediterranean Vacation

Iconic Western Mediterranean Vacation, by Karen Wagner

There are vacations that you remember - and then there are journeys that feel almost dreamlike. Our vacation this July to the Mediterranean was an adventure to Italy, Monaco, France and Spain and was postcard perfect.  A little too hot - yes.  A little too beautiful - never.

We started a pre-tour in an 11th century castle in Umbria and then boarded a Viking Cruise ship allowing us to experience culture and history first hand,  It filled us with sunshine, laugher, and long lasting memories.  It was magical.

We made some new friends along the way and with them experienced the elegance of Italy (my Italian heritage), the glamour of Monaco (for the rich and famous), the romance of the French Riviera and the beauty of Spain. (and that’s when they won the World Cup).  We even traveled the Formula 1 roadway in Monaco.

As you know I love my cameras but due to a pretty intense heat wave I only used my Nikon D-700 on occasion but these are mostly cell phone photos.  There were many miles of hiking each day with cobblestone walkways and hilly terrain so it was an easy decision.  The day we were in Florence Italy it reached 104 degrees.

I welcome you to visit my slideshow so you too can come on this journey and feel the magic.

We’re not a competitive club, but we do take photos. Some of our members post photos to Facebook, to 52 Frames and to Instagram. While most of the photo albums on our club website are visible to members only, we have created a page « Our Best Photos », which is visible to the public. Our Best Photos

About our banner...

Our banner image was taken by Art Liefke at the Kings Park Bluff, where the Nissequogue River
empties into Long Island Sound.  Our members often meet and photograph the beautiful sunrises and sunsets here.

We consider The Bluff a symbol of Kings Park, and consequently as a symbol of our club.
