Welcoming More New Members

Janina Krach | Published on 2/28/2025

Recap of February 27, 2025 Monthly Meeting

Larry opened the meeting by welcoming 3 new members attending for the first time: Jeffrey Litt, Ruda Kumar, and Margaurette Criscione. Our total membership is now 39, almost the highest in our 12 year history. We've added nine new members over the past year.

  • Each of the new members introduced themselves, related how they first got interested in photography, and described the type of camera equipment they used. They shared their favorite types of photography (landscapes, portraits, nature, gardening) and explained what they hope to learn by being members of the Kings Park Photography Club.

  • Everyone in the room then introduced themselves, giving their backgrounds and areas of interest.  Some favor shooting straight out of the camera, others used software.  Some use multiple cameras and lenses, others rely on cellphones. Some have been members from the very beginning.  Everyone shared their enjoyment of the club.

  • We discussed plans for a “Meet & Greet’ to socialize, get to know our new members, and then go out for a sunset group photo shoot.  The lunch will be held on Thursday March 20th, at around 2pm, at Legends Bar & Grill, 34A Indian Head Road in Kings Park,

(telephone 631-663-3419), with more details to follow.

  • Larry asked for membership renewals, and explained that we can pay by cash or check, or by emailing him for a link to pay via PayPal. Dues are $25, and checks hould be made out to Lawrence Kelly.

  • Findings of the Future Directions Survey will be discussed at the April meeting.
