Contests

We conduct a Monthly Theme Contest, in which members show off their skill and imagination by submitting either one or two photos illustrating a given theme.

Some themes are fairly simple (Pets, Food, Parks), some call on photographic techniques (Panorama, Minimalism, Hi/Low Angle) while others call for interpretation (Solitude, An Empty Road, Creative Self-Portrait).

Members vote, voting is anonymous, and people can't vote for their own entries.  Winning photos are featured on the website.

The Theme Contest is not very difficult. It is intended to get people shooting every month, since the photo entries have to be taken during the current month.  All the entries are featured in a slideshow on the "Members Only" side of the website, and each photographer is listed by name.

We have fun! and at least half our membership participates.
